Chief Secretary Smt. Radha Raturi has given instructions to include Mandua, Jhangora, local food in the mid-day meal in the schools of the state under the Eat Right Movement. The Education Department has been instructed to procure millets through the Cooperative Department. Initially, 6 model Eat Right Schools will be developed in the state. Along with this, she has instructed to train all the Bhojanmatas in mushroom production in three phases to develop mushroom gardens in schools. In this regard, the District Magistrates have been instructed to arrange for mushroom seeds through the Horticulture Department. Pirul (Pine leaves ) will be used as the base material for mushroom production so that the production cost is reduced. Students can also be involved in the activity of developing mushroom gardens in schools by the trained Bhojanmatas , so that in future they can also work as agro entrepreneurs. All DMs have also been instructed to work on the action plan to expand the cultivation of millets on vacant land. CS has asked the District Magistrates to organize Eat Right Melas.
CS Smt. Radha Raturi reviewed the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM Poshan) while presiding over the 22nd meeting of the State Level Implementation and Monitoring Committee at the Secretariat.
Chief Secretary Smt. Radha Raturi has directed all the District Magistrates to get the damaged kitchens in schools repaired on priority from MNREGA/MLA Fund/Finance Commission/District Plan and other appropriate schemes etc. She has directed all the districts to immediately send the information of grading system on the basis of organizing “Vishesh Bhoj” in schools and kitchen garden. The grading system will be revised in the year 2025-26. CS has instructed to prepare SOP for the personal hygiene of the Bhojanmatas under PM Poshan and ensure its mandatory compliance.
In today’s meeting, Chief Secretary Smt. Raturi gave approval to cover 01 aided school of Dehradun district, 06 madrasas of Haridwar and 02 madrasas of Udham Singh Nagar district under PM Poshan. Along with this, permission was given to send a proposal to the Government of India for developing 06 Eat Right Schools in the state under Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM Poshan) in the financial year 2025-26 and to send a proposal to the Government of India for providing funds for providing mushroom production training to 120 Bhojanmatas under PM Poshan in the financial year 2025-26.
Chief Secretary Smt. Radha Raturi has directed the Education Department to compulsorily organize one period in a week for health related information for the students. In view of the shortage of doctors, the Chief Secretary has directed to take the help of private doctors, medical interns, para medical staff and AYUSH doctors along with government doctors for regular health checkup of children in schools. Describing the mental health of school children as very important along with physical health, Chief Secretary Smt Raturi has directed to include information about this in the curriculum of each class.
